The strategic whitespace is that Millie's is modernizing broth without cannibalizing canned soup. Ā It is a solution for comfort rituals, savory snack replacement, work and travel convenience, light eating and fasting, and healthcare/recovery.

millieWhere did it come from? Millie's was created by a teacher who needed a smarter snack for her short breaks between classes. The recipes were inspired by Lori's mom Millie. (more below), so she and her husband LLance were the first to reinvent broth as a hot beverage from a tea bag. Millieā€™s matzah ball soup was loved by her whole family. Her daughter Lori, a grade school teacher and lifetime WW(formerly Weight Watchers) Member, needed a quick pick-me-up between classes that was low in calories and WW Points. So she thought, ā€œwhat if I could make a smarter snack that tasted like momā€™s home-made soup in a cup whenever I want?ā€Ā 

Background Millie's Sipping Broth is an innovative approach to the soup/broth market thatĀ gives the consumer the ability to make their own fresh broth, by the cup - just by steeping real herbs, real vegetables and real seasonings in a special steepableā„¢ broth bag.Ā Millie's isĀ theĀ very first broth in a tea bagĀ toĀ hit the market in 2014 andĀ then went onĀ to win a sofi Gold for Outstanding Hot Beverage of the Year at the Fancy Food Show in New York.

We achieve this by creating high-quality, affordable, and comforting products. Soups and broths, with their long history of healing both the body and soul, are at the heart of what we do.

The Idea
Lori made a steepableĀ® boquet garni (a French method of making a soupĀ broth). It was made of small batches of real plant-based ingredients: whole vegetables, herbs and spices ā€“Ā no meat. She then put it in a broth tea bag and all the teachers in the break room loved it. An idea was born!Ā The original steepableĀ® sipping broth in a tea bag.

With the help of her husband LLance she named it after her mom Millie, then launched the idea on Kickstarter in 2014. Shortly after that successful campaign, Millieā€™s Sipping Brothā„¢ hit the market.Ā  We started selling it on the street at the Pike Place Market in Seattle and then in 2017 it became the first broth to ever win outstanding hot beverage of the year at the Fancy Food Show and got the attention of the world.

Millie's Sipping Broth is gluten free, vegan and comes in compostable broth bags. All flavors are made inĀ small batches and use a combination of organic, natural and wild harvest ingredients to maximize flavor for the season they were harvested.Ā
